Faith formation Coordinator

Liverpool First Presbyterian is seeking applicants for a 10 hour per week, 10 month per year Faith Formation Coordinator.  


The ministry of Faith Formation partnering with the Spirit of God and the intergenerational community of faith for each person’s growth into the image and likeness of God as disciples and friends of Jesus Christ. The context of this ministråy is a culture that is both increasingly secularized and open to a variety of expressions of spirituality. Spiritual formation occurs in relationships, Christian education, mission inside and outside of the church, and worship.




Qualifications


  • A mature, thoughtful, and passionate person of Christian faith

  • Capable of teaching the Christian faith from a Presbyterian perspective with clarity and effectiveness to all ages

  • The ability to work independently and collaboratively with people

  • Appreciative of and familiar with the breadth of Christian spiritual practices

  • Comfortable with the use of technology in communication and meetings

  • An example of Christian discipleship in life to the children, youth, families and church membership of LFPC.

  • Accepting a flexible work schedule as the needs of the ministry fluctuate (e.g., Sunday mornings, some weekday evenings and weekends)

  • Dependability, patience, possessing a servant-heart, with strong organizational and administrative skills

  • Compliance with the LFPC Sexual Harassment Prevention Policy, the Youth Protection Policy, and all other relevant policies and submission to a criminal background check. 

  • Two or more years serving a Christian church in a similar capacity is preferred

  • A degree in education or related work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prayerfully follow God’s leading, discern and develop with pastor and other leaders a vision for spiritual formation.

  • In consultation with the Pastor, coordinate and resource the Faith Formation periodic activities for all age levels within the congregation.

  • Help in planning with WE Sundays to ensure intergenerational experience.

  • support teachers and nursery staff to encourage faithful teaching, compassionate care and Christ-like service (periodic planning meetings and leadership training).

  • Work with the session to develop an annual spiritual formation budget. Oversee the budget and keep other records related to spiritual formation. 

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Coordinate correspondence and communicate ministry activities, events, and goals to the congregation, participants, families and the community at large (monthly newsletter articles, monthly reports to session, bulletin announcements and social media).
  • Resource Worship and Music Committee with focus on involvement of youth, children, and families in worship leadership

  • Be present and visible on Sunday mornings to coordinate activities, guide and welcome visitors, teach and assist as needed. Assist and encourage families as they introduce their children to corporate worship
