Frequently Asked Questions

  • Who are Presbyterians?  What do you Believe?

We are part of the Presbyterian Church (USA).  See our beliefs for a brief description of what we believe, or visit the PCUSA website.

  • How do I get there?

We are on the corner of Oswego Street (Rt. 57) and Tulip Streets in the village of Liverpool, only a few blocks from the NYS Thruway.   See the map on the Home page.

  • Where do I go once I arrive?

If you are coming for the worship service at 10:15 come through the sanctuary doors in the front of the building. We have a lift for those who cannot manage stairs off the Oswego Street entrance and we would be happy to help you gain access to our sanctuary.

  • What will happen during a typical worship service?

The bulletin will list the components of our worship and its order. You will receive a bulletin from an usher when you enter the sanctuary.  Large-print hymnals, bulletins, and hearing devices are available.  Restrooms are available through the left hand door at the front of the sanctuary.  A diaper changing station is in the restroom at the bottom of the stairs at the rear of the sanctuary.  For parents, your children are welcome to worship with the congregation.  If you prefer, the nursery for young children is available through the right hand door at the front of the sanctuary.  "Time for Young Disciples" is our children's sermon and you are welcome to accompany your child up front.  During "Passing of the Peace" you may shake hands (or cross hands over your chest if you prefer) along with saying "The peace of Christ be with you."  After worship please join us downstairs for coffee hour.

  • Is there a dress code I need to follow?

We are an intergenerational church with services that connect people of all ages and backgrounds in a welcoming environment. Here at LFPC, you’ll find a variety of dress from our diverse congregation—from formal suits and dress to jeans and t-shirts!

  • Are my children able to participate in worship?

We desire to have children worship with the congregation. There is nursery care for children up through kindergarten. Young children worship with their parents the first part of worship and then go to the nursery during the sermon. There are worship buckets in the back of the church for children to use. There is also a rocking chair in the back corner for parents with babies.

  • How often do you have Communion?

We welcome all who accept the invitation to the Table. Those who come need not be concerned about their personal appearance or aptitude. What matters is that the love, the grace and the hospitality in God the Holy Spirit create unanimity among us. This meal is provided, not because we have earned the right to eat and drink with Jesus, but simply as an act of divine love. Communion, also known as The Lord’s Supper, is served on the first Sunday of every month during worship.

  • What do you have for families?

We have something for everyone! We have paid nursery staff for our little ones, and we have faith classes for toddlers through adults. Elementals meets monthly on Friday nights. This program is for our elementary school age children to gather for fun games, a mission project, and crazy play! Youth group meets on Sunday mornings with interactive faith classes and monthly mission trips along with planned weekend events. We also have the Friends in Faith Christian Preschool for 2 year olds, 3 year olds and pre-k children.

  • How can I meet people of the church?

You can begin by joining us for coffee hour after the worship service downstairs in the fellowship hall. Our members will welcome you and help you to get involved!

  • How can I learn more about LFPC?

In the pew there is a connection card for you to fill out that will let the pastor know you would like to be contacted. You can call the church at 457-3161 to talk directly with Reverend Anderson. You can also talk to an elder or deacon before or after the worship service to learn more about our church.
